150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Aalahazrat Imam Ahmed Raza

Aalahazrat Imam Ahmed Raza has been declared as “The greatest personality of the 20th Century” by the prominent Ulemas (Islamic Scholars) of India at a function in Al Jamiatul Ashrafia , Mubarakpur, U.P in Dec 1999.This title was bestowed upon him due to his remarkable achievements and command in over 54 branches of Knowledge. The books written by him exceed to more than a thousand. The Government of India had issued a postal stamp in 1995 and also started the Aalahazrat Express from Dadar to Barielly in memory of this holy saint of Islam. Research work in more than a dozen Universities all over the world is in progress and in South Africa the Supreme Court has admitted the Fatawa e Razvia (Book on Islamic law written by Aalahazrat comprising of 12500 pages) in its books of reference. On the 26th of December 2001 the world will celebrate the 150th Birth anniversary of Aalahazrat Imam Ahmed Raza. Since Raza Academy was formed basically to highlight the achievements of Aalahazrat this year is an important year for us in particular and for all Muslims in general.

The Academy has made several arrangements and organized several programmes for the anniversary celebrations which are as follows:

Ground Programme: The first programme which is to be held on the ground on the 25th of Dec 2001 shall be at the Madanpura Sunni Mosque wherein prominent Ulemas from Bombay shall be attending it and shall pay their tributes in the holy court of Aalahazrat.

Sea Programme : A catamaran with a capacity of around 500 people has been booked which shall leave from the Gateway of India and will go into the sea where “Noori Mehfil” will be held .This programme will be on the 28th of Dec .

Air Programme : A chartered flight will leave Santacruz Airport in the first week of Jan 2002 and after circling over Mumbai City for an hour or two it will touch back at the Airport. While on flight “Recitation of the Holy Quran, Noori Mehfil, Speeches, and then prayers for peace will be held by Ulemas (Islamic Scholars).Special prayers for the security of the Nation and for the communal harmony shall be also be held.

Views & Expressions: Apart from this one more important aspect of the celebrations is to collect the views & Impressions of the worlds famous personalities and current world rulers .For this the Academy has published a beautiful folder with a covering letter and a book on the life and works of Imam Ahmed Raza titled “The Muslim Revivalist”. This folder has been sent to more than 400 famous personalities and intellectuals including Mr. Saddam Hussain, Mr. Yasser Arafat, Mr. Bush, Mr. Clinton, Mr. Kofi Annan, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth, Oxford University, Al Azhar University, University of Leeds, All Major Universities of the world, The Prime Ministers and Presidents of all Countries, etc. A souvenir will be published after receiving the views of all the famous personalities and intellectuals of the world.

Contest: Other than this the Academy has planned a contest in which for 15 days a question will be asked in selected Newspapers on Aalahazrat with 4 options. The winners of this contest will be chosen by draw and the first Prize has been declared as a pilgrimage for Hajj or 11 Tola Gold (approx 128 Gms), the second prize a pilgrimage for Umrah or 6 Tola Gold (Approx 70 Gms) and so on. A detailed book on the life of Aalahazrat containing about 400 pages will be sent to all the participants of this contest.

Medical Camp: The Academy has organized a Medical camp for Lung and Bronchitis check on the 30th of Dec 2001 at the Memonwada Ground, Mumbai - 3 from morning to evening which will be free of cost to all and shall be conducted by a team of Mumbai’s best doctors.

Publicity: In Bombay the sign boards of around 500 Electric poles have been taken over for the advertisement of the 150th Birth Anniversary and the logo will be displayed on these sign boards for a month. Also a hoarding has been put up at Bandra junction displaying the logo. Apart from these thousands of posters, stickers and other modes of publicity have been adopted.

The above mentioned programmes are just a few which have been listed to give an idea of the arrangements for the anniversary.

"Yaumul Quds" (Al - Aqsa Day) observed with total unanimity all over Bombay with special prayers for Palestinians.Isareli attacks condemned in the strongest possible terms.
The Muslims of India in general and Raza Academy in particular have "Declared" the last Friday of every Ramadan as the "Al-Aqsa Day" in an effort to intensify the struggle for the Liberation of Al-Quds Shareef in Jerusalam. In an act of Solidarity with the universal Muslims brotherhood, particular with the Muslims of that region prayers were held in mosques all over India for the Liberation of Islam's thrid "Holiest Shrine" , the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem which must be and will be liberated from the evil clutches of the Zionist enemy of Islam ( Israel ). Hazrat Maulana Mansoor Ali Khan (All India Sunni Jamiatul Ulema) denounced the Israeli attacks and prayed for the safety of the Palestinians while Maulana Saiyad Siraj Azhar (All India Tableeghe Seerat) condemned the missile attacks and the American stand on it. Every mosque in Mumbai held special prayers for the Palestinians and for the liberation of the Holy Shrine at the same time condemning the Israeli atrocities and the backing by the American government in the strongest possible terms.

Let there be no mistake in understanding the fact that Liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque is the goal of the entire Muslim Brotherhood of the world because it the Islamic obligation of each and every Muslim to liberate this sacred site regardless of the extent of struggle and its consequences while this struggle should not be misunderstood simply as a political struggle of the Palestinian People for merely the Independence of their "Home Land" however our hearts and souls are with our Palestinian Brothers who are in the forefront of this Holy struggle. We as Muslims of India expect the Indian Government to understand this critical issue with vision and clarity and express solidarity with Muslims of India who now look forward to test the loyalty of our Government which has its national obligations to support the just cause of Muslims who comprise of almost 20% of India's population and about 25% of the worlds total population.

Obviously, we condemn the acts of terrorism unleashed by Israel on the innocent and defenceless civilians consisting of women, children, the sick and the elderly while we urge the International community, namely the United Nations to condemn the ongoing barbaric acts of terrorism unleashed by Israel on Palestinian civilians and to declare Israel a "Terrorist State", consequently the ongoing International Campaign against terrorism must also be extended to Israel which must be declared as a terrorist state.

We also seek the support of our non-muslim fellow citizens to stand by us in this noble cause of Liberation of Al - Aqsa mosque. It is important to note that further steps within International laws may be taken towards the goal of Liberation of one of Islam's Holiest Mosques.
